I have designed perfumes for many people here in the Shenandoah Valley as well as across the United
States. I love designing perfumes and I love the interesting stories that my clients have shared with me.
One of the misconceptions of perfume design is that it
is a 1-2-3 art. You take a personality test and based on the answers, a
perfumer will design a scent. Perfume design is not a 1-2-3 art that some
people have come to believe. It is very complex and timely. You cannot
always get a personality profile and "OUILA" here's your personality
scent. I have personally taken several personality tests from different
companies and my "perfect scent" have all been different. Some of the
perfumes based on my personality were horrid in my opinion. People's
personality is the first gauge to the type of scent a person will
gravitate towards, however, there are other factors in play. These
other factors include: age/generation, your personal experience with a
fragrance, scent association, etc. Some of you may not like certain
scents because you don't like a person who wears that particular scent.
For example, a person who is 35 can take a personality
test and answer it the same way as a 55 year old with the same
personality. This does not mean they will like the same scent and
usually they won't like the same scent. There is a whole generation
between them. What is pleasant to a 55 year old may be revolting to a
35 year old and vice versa.
When I design a scent for a client, I want to not only
know his/her personality, but I want to know what scents turn you off,
what scents make you feel good, what scents you absolutely love, etc.
Keep this in mind when you are having a scent designed for you. Designing perfumes is a work of
art. You are having designed for you something that will be your signature and a reflection of the "total you".
Having said this, I will only design perfumes in person.
I am no longer designing perfumes over the telephone or via email
correspondence.
